  *  since her inception, stephanie's storylines have included : drug abuse, child abuse, sexual violence, teen pregnancy, torture, misogyny, violence against women & most controversially : r@pe.  stephanie is undoubtedly a survivor  of grooming and statutory from her older boyfriend dean & from the criminal underlord : roman sionis.
dc made the choice to humiliate & mutilate a teenage girl and beloved character in order to sell comics. to shy away from that content or alter it would be to sanitize that choice they made & would be a disservice to stephanie's legacy. i will not go into detail and will tag any ref.  004 : /   i favour plotted prose but enjoy spontaneity as much as the next person. i format intermittently.

  005 : /   bigoted, callous & cruel behaviour won't be tolerated here. in the most justifiable of cases, i support calling out behaviour when it is necessary to protect yourself those around you from the dangerous behaviour of others. i will do the same if i see anyone behaving in an unjust way. on a lighter note, i don't respond to vagues positively, i will turn up on your doorstep with a truncheon. i'm here to have fun & not be pressured as i very much will not do that to anyone else.  006 : /   i practise exclusivity & mains i find this helps keep things clear and delineate plots & storylines easiest.

yara / 27 / white bri'ish ! i have written on tumblr & privately for well over ten years in various fandoms and for varying characters though i tend to remain in comic / superhero circles. i have written  stephanie brown  for years, going through many iterations of interpretation & plots : unless you are new, you may well have seen me around before. feel free to reach out if we were friendly before !

TAKEN FROM THE DATA FILES OF BRUCE WAYNE : / born to crystal brown & arthur brown ( aka. cluemaster ) reports from cps & gcpd indicate a turbulent childhood following her father's dismissal as a tv host. gcpd responded to six domestic violence calls at their home, within three years. teachers reported concerns of poverty, neglect & potential physical abuse however, cps officers were either overworked or bribed to look the other way. arthur brown abandoned the family for another failed career path of fully fledged criminality when stephanie was twelve years old. reports from elliot memorial indicate that prior to his leaving, crystal brown's employment was intermittent prior to a suspension without pay ; similarly, her rehab visits fluctuated in length and success.
her tenure as spoiler began in a vendetta against her father, arthur brown sought to finally step out of his own inadequacies whilst his daughter sought to end him : once and for all. however, stephanie brown is not a killer, she could not bring herself to destroy her father despite all he had done to her, although her violent tendencies gave me pause and concern. unpredictability and instability followed her entire career as spoiler, ie. her pregnancy, to her relationship with robin. any attempts to dissuade her, for her own safety, were met first with disheartenment and then - disobedience. as such, i instructed all to end contact and association with the vigilante spoiler, to mixed success.

 
 
as robin, stephanie displayed natural bravery, tenacity & great potential. however, she lacked compliance, failing to follow orders given. i was left with no choice but to terminate her as robin. a decision which i regretted, i underestimated her commitment.
the crime war she began to seek my approval cost her more than her life. many lives were lost & our reputations forfeit. the end of the war placed the family in a vulnerable place. for stephanie, four days into the chaos, she was captured attempting to stop the violence by the sadist roman sionis ( aka. black mask ). mask was able to hold her for three days. the torture she suffered was detailed in a false autopsy report by doctor leslie thompkins, who i had placed stephanie into the care of. thompkins smuggled stephanie out of the united states, out of our care & into exile. she fooled me into believing i had played a role in her murder, that it was a lesson against my crusade. my relationship with doctor thompkins, a long time ally & friend to my parents was never the same. she placed her ego and mine over stephanie's life. choosing to stephanie in healing in exile, the two travelled to east africa : ethiopia, tanzania, mozambique.
however a life on the run would never be enough for spoiler, it took a year of recovery for her to return.

 
she returned to gotham city to reclaim her old moniker : spoiler. impressing upon her the pressing issue of lost time, stephanie was assigned the task of making robin a better vigilante. a task she succeeded at, at great personal cost. as i predicted, i knew stephanie could not avoid her need for my approval but this would insult robin, who had suffered greatly in her absence. with their relationship ended, tim was finally free of the guilt he'd felt for having lost her whilst stephanie had few allies within the family. this changed, however, when oracle & black bat helped stephanie transform into batgirl.
  stephanie has proven to be a stubborn & frustrating thorn within my side. in the decade since we met, she has alighted a gang war, caused dissension within my ranks, blinded me, ignored orders & flagrantly flaunted her independence : she remains my greatest misjudgement. i thought her immature and ill - prepared. on the contrary, everything that stephanie has done has been built on her own. her success as batgirl is almost entirely self - made & hard - won. against her objections, she gained the support of oracle before charming alfred, robin & nightwing. she has allied herself with villains and heroes alike. she has the city's favour. i underestimated ms. brown, it is a mistake i will not make again, and pity others who do.
